What People Are Saying
Our black lab Jake was, what we thought, a well behaved puppy who had occasional moments of misbehavior. We had done some basic training with Jake ourselves before we received a timely gift from a former client of El Dorado K9 Training. When Jake returned from the Two Week Boot-camp he was an entirely different dog. Kristin and Mark's expertise in dog training showed us Jake's full potential using training methods that we would have never thought of. Now Jake gets compliments everywhere we go; from our vet to the coffee shop patrons who all comment on what a well behaved dog Jake is. His training from EDK9 has enabled us to include Jake in all of our activities; and family, friends, and guests always enjoy having Jake around.
Thank you Kristin and Mark!

...Thank you also to our special dogs on stage, Carlo and Jake!! We would not have had a show if it wasn't for our lovable four legged friends. And a BIG thank you also to Carlo and Jakes' trainers - words can not describe how much we appreciated all of your efforts for getting your dogs to all of the rehearsals and shows.
I hope you all enjoyed 'Annie' and took pride in the pieces you helped to create.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Our dog Georgie was such an amazing dog when we first got him at the age of 7 months. As time went on he began to get more and more aggressive towards dogs and then humans. It was to a point that he would lunge at people and we were really worried that he would eventually bite someone. We were told he will NEVER change and that we should put him to sleep. It was to a point when we left the house or people were around him (other than us) we had to put a muzzle on him. Our vet recommended El Dorado K9. From the moment I talked to them on the phone I was sold, but the hard part was convincing my girlfriend, since we had to be apart from Georgie for 2 weeks for the boot camp. Once we met Kristin, she was sold as well. Kristin and her staff showed great leadership with Georgie. When we got Georgie back Kristin worked with us on our leadership skills and now Georgie is a totally different dog. We could never dream of going back to a dog park since he would get into fights all the time with other dogs. We now take him to the dog park and he has been wonderful with the other dogs and people around. We are still continuing our training for ourselves and Georgie with Kristin to improve even more. Kristin is truly a blessing in disguise for us and Gerogie. Thank you so much for doing what you do best!!!!

Recently I had [Fenway] in Tahoe at a friend's house and he became friends with a 6 year old yellow lab. The lab was completely out of control and in deperate need of training...so I recommended you guys. But it also reminded me of how great it is to have an exceptionally well trained dog. The training WE got from you guys is one of the best "investments" I've ever made...I can't imagine trying to do a hike like this or a lot of other fun things we do if we weren't trained. So while I've said "Thank You" many times before...I'm not afraid to say it again. THANK YOU. El Dorado K9 is the best.

Our puppy Beatrice was an absolute handful. She would not listen to anything we said. We thought we had tried everything until I was told about El Dorado K9. Beatrice attended the 2 week boot camp in January and just completed the 2 week off leash training this week. Our dog is so well behaved and so much happier. We are able to take her anywhere and enjoy her at home without her chasing everyone around and being completely out of control. The thing I never got was how much happier she would be. She is so proud of herself and loves to behave properly. El Dorado K9 is the answer for a wonderful human/dog relationship. They teach your dog and then teach you, which is the most important part. We can't thank Kristin, her family and her staff for their kind yet firm way with Baby B.

Kristin and Mark Minnie of El Dorado K9 Training made a difference with our dog Kody from day one! When I dropped Kody off for his two week stay, I was truly impressed with how organized and clean the training area was. Their knowledge, understanding, and intuition of dog behavior are phenomenal. They have a common sense approach to dealing with any difficult issue such as barking, digging, or aggression. After training, Kody is a joy to walk, he listens to all basic commands, and he knows his place in our home. I am VERY satisfied with our experience and have already recommended the training to several friends. I will never own another dog without sending it to El Dorado K9 for training. Thanks Kristin and Mark!!!

El Dorado K9 is amazing! We took our English Bulldog "Diesel" to them for boot camp when he was about 5 months old. He's a very friendly dog, but even at 5 months he was becoming very stubborn and had exhibited some startlingly aggressive behavior toward playground swings. While I like to think that I can do everything myself, recalling the lack of success I had in dealing with behavior problems of our last dog I decided to trust the experts this time. I'm so glad that I did! When Diesel came back to us after his 2 week stay at El Dorado K9, he was still the same happy-go-lucky goofball as before, except now he immediately obeyed commands, stayed put until released, walked perfectly on a leash and most importantly of all, he no longer cared about swings! EDK9 doesn't stop with just training the dog, either. One of the owners spent a couple of hours with us on the day Diesel came home to teach US how to be the best we can be as the leaders of Diesel's pack. She explained the impact our own behavior will have on Diesel and the differences between human communication and dog communication. In short, if you want a dog to understand you, you've got to speak their language!
It has been almost two months since Diesel's boot camp experience and he continues to be a wonderful pet and an obedient dog. The lessons we learned from EDK9 have helped us to reinforce what our bulldog was taught and to establish a comfortable and fun relationship with this new addition to our family.

New puppy + unexpected surgery = El Dorado K9 to the rescue! I couldn't wait to pick up my new German Shepherd puppy. She was perfect! But then I hurt my knee and had to have surgery. I was so worried! Six weeks of crutches later, the "puppy" is 4 1/2 months old , a whopping 45 pounds, and even better. Thanks to Kristin and Mark!!! They took her in with no notice, trained her, cared for her, and got her through all the puppy rough spots. She left a confused little puppy whose family couldn't even walk, much less train her, and she came back confident, happy, and perfectly trained! El Dorado K9 saved us!

Reggie went to Tahoe for the first time over Memorial Weekend! He did awesome!!! Now granted, we only went up for two days and one night, but he was such a good boy. At least I feel like the fear of the unknown is behind me. He was a good car traveler and just slept the whole time in his crate. And up at the house, I took his bed with us and he immediately caught on and "went to his place" and didn't get up without being released. I took a long leash to tether him, but never even got it out. I was able to go around outside in the yard off-leash and he listened really well. Personally, I just really enjoyed taking him for a three-mile walk, on-leash of course, and taking in the beauty of being up there. So anyway, I just had to share with you!

Our golden retriever's experience with EDK9 was pivotal in moving her from a great pet to a civilized member of our family. In her first 6 months with us, she responded well to treat-based training and had all the basic commands mastered--just so long as a treat was involved. However, treats had nevery truly taught her the meaning of "no." Some things were just too tempting: chasing the neighbor's cat, jumping up on guests who came to the door, and running into the street. Two weeks at "boot camp" and she had it all figured out. That was over three years ago, and her response to our commands is as solid as ever.

I just wanted to email and Thank you for all of the work you did with Linkin. I have most recently been receiving ALOT of compliments on how well behaved Linkin is. Soccer season has started and he can sit by my chair off leash and doesn't budge. I am up to
6 miles on the bike trail and he runs at a heal without his leash on. He is fantastic about returning when called and it has been such a joy to run with him. I owe all if his great behavior to you and everyone at El Dorado K9. I have nothing but praise for your training and have been referring many people to you.

Thank you so much for everything! Koda is doing very well and we are all so happy. Thanks to all of your hard work with Koda at boot camp, and your help with training us on how to be better leaders to our little pup, we now have the dog we have always wanted. People who knew the "before" Koda cannot believe the after! We now feel comfortable taking him anywhere and having him around all of our family, friends and small kids without any worries. As you can see we have been doing lots of hiking, camping, and Koda finally learned to swim. We are so happy with our well behaved dog, and most importantly we can tell Koda is happier too. Thanks again for all your help. You truly saved our relationship with our dog.

Thanks so much for giving us our life back. Howard went in and out of the house this morning and Colby stayed in place, only eying what was going on. "Absolutely amazing," Howard mused.
Yesterday morning, with a chill factor of ? we migrated 40 minutes to the office, received our food, and stayed in place while clients came and went all morning. No reminders needed. The problem was more with the clients wanting to pet and goosh all over him because he was so cute and well-behaved. I put a sign on the wall above his bed that said, "I may be cute, but I am in training. Please no pets."
Popcorn has been served without incident, and Colby did not get any until the very end, and he only watched, did not stray from place. Alyce thought maybe you did the equivalent of a body switch. She couldn't believe it was the same dog.
The cats are also in disbelief. Mocha still hides out, but she is afraid of her own shadow, and Callie, as I write this is walking past his place (where he is behaving) and into the kitchen. I note that this is the long route into the kitchen, so this is quite assuredly a test. However, both cats were sitting by the dresser when I awoke this morning. Prior to boot camp they remained down the hall and cried out at a distance. They are a great barometer of his changed behavior.
The best test was when we came in from our run: Callie was curled up on the chair, asleep. I didn't see her before Colby saw her. In her old age she sleeps deep and deafly. His sniffed at her, quite gently, looked at me, I said "no", and he walked on! Of course, she didn't run, which would have been much more inviting for a response.
We went to PetSmart to get Advantage and several people remarked how well-behaved he was! When we went to the cash register it was a whole different experience having him in the down position while I checked out, instead of wrestling for him to not run off while I wrote the check. I keep pinching myself to make sure I am not dreaming! Thanks so much again!

Hank Jr. is doing great. We have followed through with all of your training, and he has changed so much!
Ed and I think your Boot Camp is incredible. It changed our family's life. Jr. comes inside the house all the time now. He is great with the little kids too. Our dog's life is so much better, because he gets to be with us a lot more. And, everybody loves having him around now that he is so well behaved.

I would like to thank El Dorado K9 for giving "Buddy" a second chance in life. Buddy had 7 years of bad behavior. His owners wondered if this Jack Russell Terrier could be rehabilitated. The trainers at El Dorado have performed a miracle on this little guy! They have set a behavioral foundation that we now follow to keep Buddy on track and happy. Can you teach an old dog new tricks? Buddy is proof you can. Buddy is on his way!
